ESPN COLLEGE FOOTBALL BILLBOARD

ESPN COLLEGE FOOTBALL BILLBOARD

Working with various agencies, Paramount was tasked to construct the downtown San Jose billboard for ESPN and the 2019 College Football National Championship Game. This specialized billboard was part of ESPN’s Super-fan Challenge, in which four fans lived, and were televised 24/7 on the temporary structure until their respective teams were eliminated.

When the ideas and concepts were first presented to Paramount, our team began working on an outside-the-box idea, focused on safety, feasibility, and unique engineering. Paramount jumped into the project from the beginning, assisting with most aspects from city permits to the removal of the temporary structure. We began by working on 3D Models, architectural renderings of the billboard with its 8-foot deck for the contestants, its hidden door for deck access, and built in television for fans to watch their teams play. Our first task was to create a safe environment by reinforcing the existing structure to support the load of the temporary activation. Paramount then constructed the 40’ wide by 18’ high billboard on top of a 3-story abandoned bank building.Following a successful event, we disassembled the steel structure and billboard to complete the project and bringing the building back to its existing condition.
